Our CO2 Emissions calculation has its origins in the fuel burn calculator that sits within routepro, which is based on airframe and engine type data. This approach was developed to calculate fuel burn over any air sector with any specific aircraft type, and gives detailed, accurate results at this level.
In 2009, following rigourous testing, the calculator became the first independent component to achieve pre-compliance with the UK Government's Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting. It has a range of consumer applications.
The same methodology is used in our emissions data and analysis to provide bespoke and off-the-shelf solutions, with data from 2004 to present day and 6 months forward.
